kill the hill

Do you know the 'Kill the hill' test? If you love challenges, you should know this test that ascends to the top of Puig Major, the longest and highest climb in Mallorca. The special thing about this test is that normally this road is closed to the public and access is only allowed on special occasions. In this post you will find all the information you need to know about this test!

The 'Kill the Hill' race revolutionized cycling in Mallorca in 2023. The reason is that this test climbs to the top of Puig Major on a road that is closed to the public all year round. At the top of Puig Major there is a military base and it is very difficult to obtain permits to access it. The Kill the Hill march achieved what seemed impossible for cyclists on the island, allowing both locals and foreigners to enjoy this incredible climb.

This unique march is a great challenge, since Puig Major is the highest mountain in the Balearic Islands. The summit is 1,436 meters above sea level and is part of the Serra de Tramuntana, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. After having completed the ascent from Pollença to Pla de Cúber, the final stretch of the march is nothing more and nothing less than 7 kilometers of timed ascent with an average slope of 9% and ramps of up to 16%, with spectacular views of the island.

In 2024 the test took place on May 4 and the start was from the Viva Blue Hotel, like the Mallorca 312 test. Some participants took the opportunity to participate in both tests since they take place in consecutive weekends and pose different challenges. These cyclists were able to enjoy the best cycling on the island with closed roads, good weather and the best atmosphere. The organization stands out not only for its exclusivity, but also for the services included in the registration such as the bib number, an ABUS helmet, the runner's bag, breakfast for the participant at the VIVA Blue hotel, supplies, dinner for the participant and a companion …among other services. In addition, during the days prior to the event, bicycle rides from the hotel and various activities are organized.

Due to the special characteristics of the event and its exclusivity, places were limited to 300 registrations, and at Arrivo cycling you can get them!

If you are thinking about participating in this incredible march and ascending to the highest peak in Mallorca, do not hesitate to contact us for more information, Puig Major is waiting for you!
